Mediocre, slow, no updates in over a year

I want to like this player, because of its clean interface and support for lots of file formats. But its just not there yet, and the developer appears to have abandoned it. Based on other reviews, 1.0.1 has been out since at least March 2012, and there have been no updates since.

A few issues Ive identified:

1) hangs up if the USB drive containing the music becomes unavailable

2) random play isnt very random - this is really irritating. I have 85k tracks, of which maybe 1000 or 2000 are comedy. Random play gives me George Carlin every 5-10 tracks. Pretty lame, especially since it is really easy to get high-quality random numbers on a mac.

3) database scan takes forever, and hangs up the app while its happening. I just moved my music to a new network drive and its been scanning for at least an hour. During this time, the UI beachballs for several seconds whenever I try to do anything. I have a retina macbook pro with a quad i7 - it is not a resource problem.

4) developer does not respond to support requests.
